Stories of the Prophets

The Importance of Learning About the Prophets in Islam

The stories of the Prophets (peace be upon them) hold a special place in Islam, as they serve as a guidance, inspiration, and source of wisdom for all believers. The Quran tells us about these noble messengers, their struggles, and how they conveyed the message of Tawheed (oneness of Allah) to their people.

Allah says in the Quran:

Indeed, in their stories, there is a lesson for people of understanding.”
📖 (Surah Yusuf 12:111)

Through their stories, we find guidance, hope, and encouragement to stay firm in our faith and follow the straight path.

Prophet Adam (AS) – The First Human and Prophet

Prophet Adam (AS) was the first human created by Allah and also the first Prophet. Allah made him from clay and gave him a soul. He taught him the names of all things and gave him knowledge.

Creation of Adam (AS)

Allah told the angels that He would create a human (Khalifah) on Earth. The angels asked, “Will You create someone who will cause trouble?” But Allah knew what they did not know.

📖 Quran Reference:

“And [mention] when your Lord said to the angels, ‘Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority (Khalifah).’ They said, ‘Will You place upon it one who causes corruption and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?’ He said, ‘Indeed, I know that which you do not know.’”
📖 (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:30)

Shaytan’s Arrogance & Adam (AS) in Jannah

Allah ordered the angels and Iblis (Shaytan) to bow to Adam (AS) out of respect. The angels obeyed, but Iblis refused because he thought he was better.

Quran Reference:

“[Iblis] said, ‘I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay.’”
(Surah Al-A’raf 7:12)

Adam (AS) and Hawwa (Eve) lived in Jannah but were told not to eat from a certain tree. Shaytan tricked them, and they ate from it. Because of this, Allah sent them down to Earth.

Adam (AS) Repents & Becomes a Prophet

Adam (AS) and Hawwa (AS) felt sorry and asked Allah for forgiveness. Allah forgave them because He is Most Merciful. Adam (AS) was then made the first Prophet to guide people.

Quran Reference:

“Then Adam received words [of forgiveness] from his Lord, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, He is the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:37)

Lessons from Adam (AS)

  1. Obey Allah and avoid what He has forbidden.
  2. Shaytan is our enemy, so we must be careful of his tricks.
  3. If we make mistakes, we should repent, and Allah will forgive us.
