سُورَةُ الفَاتِحَة

Surah Al-Fatiha (The Opening)

Meccan • 7 verses • The greatest chapter of the Quran

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ﴿٢﴾ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿٣﴾ مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ ﴿٤﴾ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ﴿٥﴾ اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ ﴿٦﴾ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ ﴿٧﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds - [2] The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, [3] Sovereign of the Day of Recompense. [4] It is You we worship and You we ask for help. [5] Guide us to the straight path - [6] The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray. [7]

سُورَةُ الإخْلَاص

Surah Al-Ikhlas (Sincerity)

Meccan • 4 verses • 1/3 of the Quran

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿٢﴾ اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ ﴿٣﴾ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ﴿٤﴾ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ ﴿٥﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One, [2] Allah, the Eternal Refuge. [3] He neither begets nor is born, [4] Nor is there to Him any equivalent." [5]

سُورَةُ الفَلَق

Surah Al-Falaq (The Daybreak)

Medinan • 5 verses • Protection from evil

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ﴿٢﴾ مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ﴿٣﴾ وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ﴿٤﴾ وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ ﴿٥﴾ وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ﴿٦﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak [2] From the evil of that which He created [3] And from the evil of darkness when it settles [4] And from the evil of the blowers in knots [5] And from the evil of an envier when he envies." [6]

سُورَةُ النَّاس

Surah An-Nas (Mankind)

Medinan • 6 verses • Protection from whispers

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ ﴿٢﴾ مَلِكِ النَّاسِ ﴿٣﴾ إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ ﴿٤﴾ مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ ﴿٥﴾ الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ ﴿٦﴾ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ ﴿٧﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, [2] The Sovereign of mankind, [3] The God of mankind, [4] From the evil of the retreating whisperer - [5] Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind - [6] From among the jinn and mankind." [7]

سُورَةُ الكَوْثَر

Surah Al-Kawthar (Abundance)

Meccan • 3 verses • Shortest surah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ ﴿٢﴾ فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ ﴿٣﴾ إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الْأَبْتَرُ ﴿٤﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar. [2] So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone]. [3] Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off. [4]

سُورَةُ العَصْر

Surah Al-Asr (The Declining Day)

Meccan • 3 verses • Summary of Islam

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ وَالْعَصْرِ ﴿٢﴾ إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ ﴿٣﴾ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ ﴿٤﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] By time, [2] Indeed, mankind is in loss, [3] Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. [4]

سُورَةُ النَّصْر

Surah An-Nasr (The Divine Support)

Medinan • 3 verses • Victory of Islam

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ ﴿٢﴾ وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا ﴿٣﴾ فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا ﴿٤﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest, [2] And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes, [3] Then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance. [4]

سُورَةُ المَسَد

Surah Al-Masad (The Palm Fiber)

Meccan • 5 verses • About Abu Lahab

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ ﴿٢﴾ مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ ﴿٣﴾ سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ ﴿٤﴾ وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ ﴿٥﴾ فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍ ﴿٦﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. [2] His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained. [3] He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame [4] And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood. [5] Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber. [6]

سُورَةُ الكَافِرُونَ

Surah Al-Kafirun (The Disbelievers)

Meccan • 6 verses • Declaration of faith

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ ﴿٢﴾ لَا أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ ﴿٣﴾ وَلَا أَنتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ ﴿٤﴾ وَلَا أَنَا عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدتُّمْ ﴿٥﴾ وَلَا أَنتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ ﴿٦﴾ لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِيَ دِينِ ﴿٧﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] Say, "O disbelievers, [2] I do not worship what you worship. [3] Nor are you worshippers of what I worship. [4] Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship. [5] Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship. [6] For you is your religion, and for me is my religion." [7]

سُورَةُ الضُحَى

Surah Ad-Duha (The Morning Hours)

Meccan • 11 verses • Comfort for the Prophet

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ وَالضُّحَىٰ ﴿٢﴾ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ ﴿٣﴾ مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ ﴿٤﴾ وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ ﴿٥﴾ وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ ﴿٦﴾ أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ ﴿٧﴾ وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ ﴿٨﴾ وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ ﴿٩﴾ فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ ﴿١٠﴾ وَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ ﴿١١﴾ وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ ﴿١٢﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] By the morning brightness [2] And [by] the night when it covers with darkness, [3] Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you]. [4] And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life]. [5] And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied. [6] Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge? [7] And He found you lost and guided [you], [8] And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient. [9] So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him]. [10] And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him]. [11] But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it]. [12]

سُورَةُ الشَّرْح

Surah Al-Inshirah (The Relief)

Meccan • 8 verses • Comfort and reassurance

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ ﴿٢﴾ وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ ﴿٣﴾ الَّذِي أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ ﴿٤﴾ وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ ﴿٥﴾ فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿٦﴾ إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿٧﴾ فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ ﴿٨﴾ وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ ﴿٩﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast? [2] And We removed from you your burden [3] Which had weighed upon your back [4] And raised high for you your repute. [5] For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. [6] Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. [7] So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]. [8] And to your Lord direct [your] longing. [9]

سُورَةُ التِّين

Surah At-Tin (The Fig)

Meccan • 8 verses • Human nature and judgment

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ ﴿٢﴾ وَطُورِ سِينِينَ ﴿٣﴾ وَهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ الْأَمِينِ ﴿٤﴾ لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ ﴿٥﴾ ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَاهُ أَسْفَلَ سَافِلِينَ ﴿٦﴾ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ﴿٧﴾ فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِالدِّينِ ﴿٨﴾ أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ الْحَاكِمِينَ ﴿٩﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] By the fig and the olive [2] And [by] Mount Sinai [3] And [by] this secure city [Makkah], [4] We have certainly created man in the best of stature; [5] Then We return him to the lowest of the low, [6] Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted. [7] So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense? [8] Is not Allah the most just of judges? [9]

سُورَةُ القَدْر

Surah Al-Qadr (The Decree)

Meccan • 5 verses • About Laylatul Qadr

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ ﴿٢﴾ وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ ﴿٣﴾ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ ﴿٤﴾ تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ ﴿٥﴾ سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ ﴿٦﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree. [2] And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? [3] The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. [4] The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. [5] Peace it is until the emergence of dawn. [6]

Surah Al-Fil (The Elephant)

Meccan • 5 verses • Story of the Elephant Army

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ ﴿٢﴾ أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ ﴿٣﴾ وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ ﴿٤﴾ تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ ﴿٥﴾ فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍ ﴿٦﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant? [2] Did He not make their plan into misguidance? [3] And He sent against them birds in flocks, [4] Striking them with stones of hard clay, [5] And He made them like eaten straw. [6]

سُورَةُ قُرَيْش

Surah Quraish (The Quraysh)

Meccan • 4 verses • Blessings of Quraysh

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿١﴾ لِإِيلَافِ قُرَيْشٍ ﴿٢﴾ إِيلَافِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ ﴿٣﴾ فَلْيَعْبُدُوا رَبَّ هَٰذَا الْبَيْتِ ﴿٤﴾ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٍ وَآمَنَهُم مِّنْ خَوْفٍ ﴿٥﴾

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [1] For the accustomed security of the Quraysh - [2] Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer - [3] Let them worship the Lord of this House, [4] Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear. [5]
